1. Christmas Market at Rheged
Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th November
Location: Rheged Centre, Penrith, CA11 0DQ
There’s a Β£5 entry fee which includes a programme and a glass of Prosecco. Over 50 specially selected independent businesses as well as expert-led demonstrations on each day, including gift wrapping, Christmas cocktails, Christmas baking and wines to accompany the Christmas meal. Everything you need for making Christmas extra special.
And it’s free to get in for under 16s.
2. Gold, Frankincense and More Christmas Fair
Wednesday 20th November (5pm-8pm) – Thursday 21st November (10am-3.30pm)
Location: The Shepherds, Rosehill Estate, Carlisle CA1 2RW.
With over 40 independent stallholders selling luxury items, you’re sure to find that unique gift.
The money raised at the fair will go to the NSPCC’s Light for Every Childhood campaign that supports children who are feeling unloved, invisible or alone.
3. The Lowther Christmas Market
Friday 22nd November – Sunday 24th November
Location: Lowther Castle and Gardens, Lowther, Penrith, CA10 2HH
It’s only in its second year, but this event at Lowther is already a firm favourite.
You’ll find the Christmas Market in a fabulous setting, with live music and food stalls as well as selected producers selling their wares.
Many of the items available cannot be found elsewhere in the local area, so you’ve every chance of finding something rare or unique.

4. Dacre Hall, Lanercost Christmas Fair
Friday 22nd November – Monday 25th November
Location: Dacre Hall, Lanercost Priory, Brampton CA8 2HQ
The Dacre Hall is one of the oldest village halls in the country. You’ll find it in the grounds of Lanercost Priory close to the popular the Lanercost Tea Rooms. Enjoy a unique Christmas shopping experience in beautiful surroundings. If you fancy stretching your legs, you can take in a section of Hadrian’s Wall which stands nearby.
5. @etsymadeincumbria Christmas Market at Tullie House
Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December
Location: Tullie House, Castle St, Carlisle CA3 8TP
Perhaps the largest gathering of Cumbrian artisans, craftsmen and artists in the county can found at Carlisle’s Tullie House. But be sure to get there early. The first 50 people through the door will get a special goody bag.
6. Carlisle Christmas Market
Saturday 30th November and Sunday 8th December
Location: Market Cross, Market St, Carlisle CA3 8JA
Get in the festive mood at the Carlisle Christmas market. It’s a traditional open-air event, right in the city centre. It’s great for finding something a little bit different, and the selection of food is terrific. Just head for the Old Town Hall and you won’t miss it.
7. Taste Cumbria at Cockermouth Christmas Market
Saturday 7th December and Sunday 8th December
Location: Main Street, Cockermouth, CA13 9LQ
