Set on the banks of the Eden River and overlooking Rickerby Park, the retreat is what the name suggests, tranquil and set apart from the City of Carlisle.
The Assembly Restaurant
The rooftop restaurant has views across the river Eden, and Rickerby Park, a beautiful setting and the interiors well designed and pleasing to the eye. We’ve enjoyed our meals at the restaurant; the food has always been terrific. Nick particularly enjoyed the selection of wine which accompanied his meal at our last visit.
The Retreat Spa
The Spa is made up of treatment rooms, swimming pool steam and sauna. Choose from a range of enticing facial, manicure, pedicure and body treatments. There is a separate selection for men, including deep muscle massage with hot stones. A great experience. Spa treatment includes a robe, towel and slippers.
Full-Day Spa – what a treat
Full-day spa treatment at the time of writing is Β£145 per person, which includes a full body massage, a personalised facial and nail polish. Also included is a two-course lunch with a glass of prosecco and unlimited use of steam, sauna and pool. That is a lot of pampering from 9 am to 5 pm.
Couples Retreat
The couples retreat offers excellent value, with one-hour treatment and half-day use of the facilities, two-course lunch and Prosecco in the restaurant. Choose between the morning session 9 am to 1 pm or 1 pm to 5 pm. I’d recommend the afternoon session after a riverside walk in Rickerby Park.
Private hire of the pool
It is possible to swim in the pool, Β£12 per hour with the use of steam and sauna during spa hours. The pool can be hired privately for an hour for up to six adults. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. It is essential to book a private hire in advance.
